In a new "prospective biomechanical study" of recreational runners, researchers found a link between knee flexion and ankle dorsiflexion, and the development of Achilles tendon injuries.

They concluded: "The combination of larger ankle dorsiflexion and greater knee flexion may cause greater AT loading during running, leading to AT overload and injury over time." More at J of Applied Biomechanics with free full text.
